UN RALLY Sep 15, 2007 ‧
TheUN rally is the best rally I ever attended in US. There are so many youth and young people in the rally. So many people attended the rally and they came from every corner of US.

When I was in Taiwan back in Dec., the prospects for DPP was pretty bad because of the court case against Chen's wife. Now people are all fired up about joining the UN. After Taiwan's application was rejected, people were lining up to sign the referendum petition because they feel that the whole world is against Taiwan which made people even more determined and united. Remember I asked the taxi driver in Taipei if he prefers the name ROC or Taiwan, he said Taiwan.

We saw many young people, even children participated, we should be proud of them. Everyone contributed his/her share to make the event successful. Thank you all.

Koo Kwang-ming put a full page ad in today's New York Times (9/17, page A13). The same ad also appeared in Washington Post. Way to go, Mr. Koo and may you live to 120! Title of the ad: Don't Put Taiwan's Democracy and Freedom back into a Box. Subtitles of each section: 1. If "Taiwan is not a state", the US has the responsibility 2. Has the US' founding spirit been lost? 3. Why democratic Taiwan can't join UN? 4. It's time for the US to reevaluate its policy on the Taiwan Strait 5. Taiwan shall overcome!

Sep19 2007 9/19 1. next year we need more speakers because we could not hear what was being said in front of UN or in front of Chinese Consulate. we're the last team in the lineup. 2. next year we should ask all out of town taiwanese groups to turn this event into an annual vacation trip and make the UN rally one of their trip itinerary. not even China can stop us if we have "mountian people mountai sea". let's set the goal of having taiwanese coming from all the 50 states of the US. patrick

Ihave received two questions often these days. 1. why the parade route altered : there was a street fair going on at 6th Ave and there was only one lane opened when we were reaching Lexington Ave., so the police decided to turn at Park Ave. to 39th Street. 2. why we did not have demonstration in front of Chinese Consulate : by the time we reached the end point was already 1:00 PM, the time of our sound permit was expired. Police gave us courtesy of extra 30 minutes to use audio-system to announce busing schedule. My intention of the rally program was using Jerry's singing to change the mood of the excitement at 10:00 AM, so we could get ready for the parade at 10:30 AM, but the people on the stage were working too hard to calm down, so we were about 25 minutes behind the schedule, then I was miscalculated the line of our parade which extended over 1/4 miles, it took us 2 hours to reach the end. (normal walking time was 40 to 45 minuted even using alternated route). We saw many young people, even children participated, we should be proud of them. Everyone contributed his/her share to make the event successful. Thank you all.

ROC VS Taiwan
Michael Yeun
The illegal occupation of the ROC on Taiwan is the reason why Taiwanese have no normal country today. People forget that ROC put Taiwanese through the longest Martial Law in human history. It is really sad that these people are still celebrating this "double tenth" that makes Taiwanese miserable. If the ROC stands for (equates) Taiwan, then Taiwan is indeed part of China. Ironically and fortunately, the constitution of the ROC was established in China when Taiwan was a Japanese territory and never formerly included Taiwan as it's territory. (Please check ROC constitution article #4) The Taiwanese celebrate ROC birthday is like the Americans celebrate British National Birthday holiday. Except that Taiwanese can not stand up and overthrow the ROC so far and formalize a Taiwanese Constitution due to the KMT's manipulation and control in the Legislative Yuan. The birth of the ROC is the beginning of the tragedy of both Chinese and Taiwanese people. Michael Yeun
