Although it is late and I am trying to clean out my e-mails, I could not resist forwarding this to you!! Most of you will agree and the leftists who don't, shame on them. I met Michael several times when I lived in McLean.
President Reagan appointed me to be his White House Small Business Delegate in 1986 and my exposure to him many times at the White House and at inaugural balls made me realize he was truly one of a kind. He would have welcomed Sarah, too, and have been proud of her accomplishments and spirit. He would have said: Go forward and win for the Gipper. He got smarter in later life as he started as a demie. I have his bio book, "Dutch"!!!
Greg is in DC this week on business taking care of his clients. He gets up there once a month. Family and grandkids doing great. I lost two dear friends in death this past year. God has been good to me as I haven't run out of steam, but seem to tread faster than ever. I still go into work every day, swim each morning and sometimes at night, too. Play golf once or twice a week. I hope to get to VA to see my beloved cousin Jeanne before Jack Frost comes a calling!!!!! God bless. Love,

Dear Laurie and Blake: I enjoyed your fine art collection. Thanks for sharing it with me. I wanted to ask you if there are post cards or a book regarding the three(3) painting of St. Francis??????? He is my favorite Ste. His prayer is on several plaques in my house. I am a nature lover. I visited Assisi with my mother and brother in 1965 when we took a trip to Italy and Spain. The rose bushes with no thorns at the convent in the village especially was an emotional moment as the birds flew into the nest at his sculptured monument. My eyes misted as I felt his presence still looking after his birds. Second to that was the trip over to Firenz to see the statute of David, then next was Roma. I actually enjoyed Firenz more than Roma. Years later while working in Frankfurt I enjoyed most all of Europe on long weekends. Quent used to watch me come and go. I tried to take all the USO trips as you couldn't afford to stay in Frankfurt when all meals, trans. and lodging package was so cheap. I have always been a walker so we would hit the village and I would roam while others shopped and ate at the restaurants. I'd take my cheese, a loaf of bread and wine with bathing suit under my dress finding a beach or a mitte bad. I especially enjoyed Wiesbaden as they had a thermal bad there of the natural springs. Perhaps that is why I am rather healthy for my age now. I still hit the ocean every day all year around and try to walk at least 40 minutes on the beach each morning.
How are you doing with sale of Quent's place? I call Quent a couple times a week - don't like to call too often as his voice is still raspy from the chemo. Quent is very positive and hopefully he will encourage me to visit him late summer to see his new condo. I am glad he is near Sky and P.J. We are all hoping and praying that he'll survive another 15 years. 100 isn't that irregular anymore. However, unless you have all your facilities and not subject to pain is the marker for me. I figure when my body can't keep up with me anymore it will just quit. My Mother and Grandmother both went to sleep, why not me, Lord? My mother's favorite was pansies so I am going to decorate her grave at Boynton Beach on Mother's Day. I feel she will be looking down at me in the act with her spirit.
Greg, my son, was the VIP Cameraman for Fleet Week here in Fort Lauderdale so he took a flight up to DC thence to Norfolk (Newport News, VA) to cruise down on the USS IWO JIMA #7 (much bigger, even has a landing
field and a hangar/lift to put the plane below the landing deck). Greg took photos on the way down which took two days then the sailors/officers visited the schools, hospitals, city officials, etc. Friday night they had a departure party and had families and guests attend. As Greg's mother I was invited. I took my neighbors son as he had served on USS IWO JIMA #1. It was very exciting for him. He took his papers along and shared them with whomever wanted to hear it. There must have been about 1500 visitors - security was very tight. We had to get cleared two weeks ahead. I spoke to a couple of Marines that served in WWII and Viet Nam. I asked them both to attend my Memorial Day Workshop this Thursday to see if we can get them to speak on Memorial Day as part of the program. They are delighted to do so. As Chair, Americanism, I am going to have an essay contest for 6 trophies for Americanism. I have a committee of ten to evaluate the essays. Three for middle schools and three for high schools in Pompano Beach.
Enough of my motor mouth. God bless you and yours. Keep up the good work in Paree! We need a better image of Americans there for what I have been reading! Fondly, Lynne

Mercury Poisoned
Did you know that the mercurome ointment we used to put on our wounds as kids contains mercury? We could have been poisoned with very high levels of mercury, Maybe that's why I never went to...school.....
Van Gogh's villiage
This reminds me of the trip we made to Van Gogh's village so many years ago. I still have the scarf that you bought me. It was so wonderful to see sit on the movie train and ride thru the country at the Van Gogh Museum outside of Paris.
We ate at the country inn that you picked out, Laurie. What a wonderful day it was! I hope that you can get to Merien, PA before they move the Barnes Fdn into Phillie. It won't be the same atmosphere for sure. My friend from Arlington, VA, Dana Weller sent me this. I was to a reception and then the Elks with friends - it is late but Dana was enthusiastic about my seeing it before I met Mr. Sandman and her thoughtfulness of me should not be ignored.
Thanks, Dana, I am sharing it with friends. It was truly impressive. I will turn into a pumpkin soon as it is after midnight. God bless you, one and all. Fondly, Lynne.
